Custom Commissions

Built for your kitchen.

Specific dimensions, your favorite exotic hardwoods, an inlay or initials. Quality takes the time it takes — I don't work to deadlines.

— Step 01

You tell me what you want.

Fill out the form below with what you're picturing. Rough dimensions and a budget are enough to get started.

— Step 02

I'll write back personally.

Usually within a few days. I'll confirm what's possible, suggest woods that suit the design, and send a quote. No pressure, no obligation.

— Step 03

50% deposit, work begins.

A non-refundable 50% deposit reserves your place in the queue and covers the wood I'll source for your piece. I'll send progress photos as the board comes together.

— Step 04

When it's ready, it's yours.

I don't work to deadlines. Boards are finished when they're finished. Final balance is paid before shipping. Yours leaves the workshop oiled, waxed, and packed in a custom-fit box.

Custom Commission Pricing
From $400

Final pricing depends on size, wood selection, and complexity. A small board in domestic hardwoods starts here. Larger pieces in rare exotics — African Padauk, Wenge, Bolivian Rosewood, Zebrawood — run higher. I'll send an exact quote once I understand what you're picturing.

A few minutes of detail saves us a week of back-and-forth.

Some folks prefer a quick call. If that's you, leave a number.

Pick your primary wood first. Add secondary or tertiary species to shape the color story. Leave blank if you only want one.

Fair warning: I don't work to deadlines. If you need a piece by a specific date, we're probably not the right fit — and that's okay.

More detail here means a faster, more accurate quote. No detail is too small.

I'll write back personally, usually within a few days.

Common Questions

Before you ask.

How long does a custom board take? +

Honestly? As long as it takes. I don't work to deadlines. End-grain construction involves multiple glue-ups, each needing time to cure, plus careful flattening, sanding, and finishing — and I refuse to rush any of those steps. If you need a piece by a specific date, I'm probably not the right maker for you, and I'd rather tell you that up front than disappoint you later.

Do you ship internationally? +

U.S. shipping included on all commissions. International is possible but adds significant cost — let me know in the form and I'll work up a shipping quote with your project quote.

What if I don't know what I want? +

That's fine — most people don't, at first. Tell me what kitchen it's going into, what you cook most, and whether you want something subtle or a piece that stands out. We'll figure the rest out together.

Is the deposit refundable? +

The 50% deposit is non-refundable. Once it's paid, I begin sourcing wood specifically for your commission and reserving time on the bench — both of which represent real cost before a single cut is made. If something changes on your end, get in touch and we'll figure out how to make it right, but the deposit itself doesn't come back.
